In a year where many traditional businesses suffered due to COVID-19, the domain name industry continues to power ahead. The 2 biggest sales of the year were:

  • Bullish.com - $1,080,000 USD
  • GoBet.com - $850,000 USD

The Escrow.com Domain Investment Index for Q4 2020 revealed a rebound from the worst of the pandemic-affected quarters, with $93.8 million total transacted amount compared to $77.5 million in Q3.

Domain sales over $50,000 increased as Fortune 500 companies relaxed controls on capital expenditure.

9. Andrew Booth

Andy is a Gibraltar-based domain-name investor who, from a business standpoint, had an extremely successful 2020. Although he wasn't much involved in the way of brokerage, he continued his relentless pursuit of new high-quality domain inventory. Andy's portfolio yielded several high-profile end-user sales in 2020, which allowed him to acquire several highly-coveted premium one-word .com domains.

8. Brent Oxley of HostGator.com & Create.com

Brent Oxley is a serial entrepreneur and avid domain investor. In 2002, Brent started the web hosting company HostGator.com. He grew it into a thriving business of over 1,000 employees and over $100 million in annual revenue before selling it to EIG for close to $300 million in 2012. Brent recently launched his new web hosting company named Create.com and is offering the first year of web hosting free to all domainers!

7. Joe Uddeme of Name Experts

Joe Uddeme is a serial entrepreneur who has successfully sold and brokered over $80M in domain names. He built NameExperts.com to provide expert service, valuation and negotiation skills.
