Escrow.com wins the BBB Torch Award for Ethics

Escrow.com, the leading global provider of secure online payments with over US$4.5 billion in payments secured, was awarded the Torch Award for Ethics by the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

San Francisco, California, May 2, 2017 -- Escrow.com, the leading global provider of secure online payments with over US$4.5 billion in payments secured, was today awarded the Torch Award for Ethics by the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

BBB Torch Awards for Ethics 2017

Presented annually since 1996, the Torch Award for Ethics is the BBB’s most prestigious award. It is presented to a business that goes above and beyond in their business dealings with customers, other businesses and the community.

Escrow.com beat out other startups to take the award for San Francisco, Silicon Valley and the wider Bay Area for large businesses.

“Escrow.com provides the most secure form of online payments in the world today. This recognition from the BBB is recognition of the quality and standard of service that we offer.” said Jackson Elsegood, General Manager of Escrow.com.

Escrow.com makes transacting online safe and easy for over 1 million users, who use the platform to trade everything from motor vehicles to contracting services. The regulated payments business was founded by Fidelity National Financial in 1999 and now owned by Freelancer Limited, and is similar to PayPal but ensures that no chargebacks or reversals can occur as the funds sent are secured in escrow and bonded against loss.

Judging was performed by an independent panel from the BBB which included Alan Ross, Professor of Business and Public Policy at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business; Lan Wu, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Marketing at the College of Business and Economics of CSU East Bay; Alex Alexander, West Point and Harvard Business School graduate and author of The Entrepreneur’s Edge; and Reverend Dr. David Moore, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Creek. Entrants were judged on criteria including industry leadership, communication, performance management, and commitment to the community.

"Torch Awards winners demonstrate the highest ethical standards of trust toward customers, employees and the communities in which they do business," said Lori Wilson, President and CEO of BBB serving the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern Coastal California. “We are proud to present this prestigious award to these deserving businesses.”

Escrow.com is now in the running for the 2017 International Torch Awards for Ethics which will be announced in July.
