How to transfer a domain to your GoDaddy Account from another Registrar

To transfer a domain to your GoDaddy account, you will require the Authorization Code for the domain from the previous registrar.

The other party can obtain the Authorization Code from their account dashboard on their registrars portal. Check out our guides to learn how to obtain the Authorization Code for the original registrar.

How to initiate an Authorization Code Transfer

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account
  2. Navigate to the Domains Transfer tool on the GoDaddy website
  3. Enter the domain name you are transferring into your account in the text box
  4. Enter the Authorization Code you received from the other party in the Get authorization code section and click Continue

Once you have completed the Domain Transfer Purchase, your domain will be available immediately in your GoDaddy account. To confirm that the domain transferred, follow these steps:

To confirm your domain has been successfully transferred

  1. Log into your GoDaddy account
  2. In the top right corner, click your account name and click Visit My Account
  3. In the Domains section, click Manage
  4. In the navigation menu, select Domain and from the menu, select Transfers
  5. Your domain will be displayed with status Processing transfer.
