How to transfer a domain from your GoDaddy Account to another Registrar

To transfer a domain from your GoDaddy account, you will need to provide the Authorization Code to the purchasing party. Make sure you only do so after you have been instructed to do so by Escrow.com, when the funds are secured in our Escrow.com.

Once the other party has the Authorization Code for the domain, they can initiate a domain name transfer from their registrar. Check out our guides to learn how to initiate a domain name transfer for the recipient registrar.

How to obtain the Authorization Code for your domain

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account
  2. In the top right corner, click your account name and then click Visit My Account
  3. In the Domains section, click Manage
  4. On the tile of the domain you wish to transfer out, select the cog icon and then click Domain Settings.
  5. Verify the contact details are correct. (Your confirmation email to finalize your domain transfer will be sent to this email address)
  6. In the Additional Settings section, next to Domain Lock: On, click the Edit button and slide the slider to Off
  7. In the Additional Settings section, and click Authorization Code link and then click Send.
  8. The Authorization Code will be emailed to your admin email address. To initiate the domain transfer, send the Authorization Code to the other party. When sending the Authorization Code to the domain buyer in a standard transaction or Escrow.com in a concierge transaction, only use your registered email address. Never send an Authorization Code to the other party before getting explicit instruction from Escrow.com that it is safe to do so.

The other party can initiate the transfer of the domain name to their account using the authorization code. Check out our other guides on how to transfer a domain using an Authorization Code for their registrar.
