Frequently Asked Questions

Are Escrow.com vehicle services available throughout the U.S.?

Yes. Escrow.com title transfer services, provided by CDS Titling are recognized and legal in all 50 states. Additional fees may apply for motor vehicles transferred to and from Alaska and Hawaii.

How long does it take to transfer title and registration?

Our title transfer service will gather motor vehicle information within 1 business day, while it typically takes Buyers and Sellers 2-3 weeks to complete the paperwork. Depending on the state, it may take from 30-120 days from the time Centerpoint Diversified Services processes the paperwork for local motor vehicle agencies to finish the transfer of the title.

Since it takes so long to transfer the title and registration into my name, can I still use the vehicle with previous owner plate?

Yes, you will just need a copy of bill of sale from the Seller and copy of the previous owner registration for purchase verification.

What will I need to obtain a temporary operating permit?

It is possible to obtain a temporary permit depending on the respective State requirements. Items needed may include but are not limited to a copy of the bill of sale from seller, and your driver's license.

If my vehicle comes from a state where the previous owner keeps his plate, how do I operate my vehicle?

You may obtain a temporary operating permit from your local motor vehicle agency.

Do I send the pink slip (statement of ownership) with the car when I ship it?

No. You will send that document with the other paperwork required to the title transfer service provider. It is never a good idea to ship the statement of ownership with the motor vehicle.

I lost some of my paperwork – can the documents be reconstructed?

Yes. Extra fees may be required, but title transfer services can help you reconstruct any documents that were lost.

Can you provide title transfer services if I purchase my car in another country?

No. Unfortunately, we can only handle transfers for cars purchased in the United States.

What if I still owe money on my car?

We suggest Buyer and Seller make arrangements with Escrow.com to pay off lien holders and get a release.

Can Escrow.com make sure I have a clear title?

No. We do not perform a lien search – therefore we cannot confirm or deny the involvement of any lien holders.

How do I pay for Title Transfer fees?

In most cases, our Title Transfer partner Centerpoint Diversified Services will bill you directly. They accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express); cashier's checks, certified checks; money orders and wire transfers.

How do I contact customer support?

You can fill out the customer service form or call us toll-free at (888) 511-8600, or call Centerpoint Diversified Services directly at 800-964-9080 If you call Centerpoint Diversified Services directly, please indicate that you are calling about Escrow.com Title Transfer Services.
