Step 4: Buyer Rejects the Merchandise

When the Buyer clicks on the reject button during the inspection period, Escrow.com will e-mail the Seller that the Buyer has rejected the merchandise.

The Buyer has 10 days to ship the merchandise to the Seller's address listed on the transaction screen after they reject the merchandise. The Buyer is responsible for paying the escrow fee and return shipping/insurance costs. The same method of shipping must be used for return shipment that was used to deliver the merchandise.

After the Buyer has shipped the merchandise, they must sign in to Escrow.com and enter the shipping company and tracking information. Escrow.com will e-mail the Seller indicating that the merchandise has been shipped. The e-mail will include all shipping information to allow both parties to track the return shipment.

Upon delivery of the shipment, the Seller must accept or reject the returned merchandise within 5 days or the inspection period will automatically expire.

The Seller Accepts the Returned Merchandise

If the Seller clicks the accept button during the inspection period, or fails to accept or reject during the inspection period, the Seller will have accepted the returned merchandise.

If the Buyer agreed to pay the Shipping Fee:

On closing, Escrow.com will reimburse the Buyer the purchase amount less escrow and original shipping fees. Escrow.com will pay the original shipping fee collected in the transaction to the Seller. The Buyer is responsible for return shipping fees.

If the Seller agreed to pay the Shipping Fee:

On closing, Escrow.com will reimburse the Buyer the purchase amount less escrow fee. The Buyer is responsible for return shipping fees.

The Seller Rejects the Returned Merchandise

If the Seller rejects the merchandise, Escrow.com will e-mail the Buyer indicating the Seller's decision to reject the returned merchandise. The transaction will be considered to be in dispute.

Escrow.com will hold the funds in escrow until the dispute is resolved. Escrow.com does not assist in dispute resolution. The Buyer and Seller are to come to a mutual agreement of terms within 30 days or start the arbitration process within 60 days.
